Deposit Policy

IJRVET permits authors to deposit and share the published Version of Record immediately upon publication and without embargo. The Version of Record is the authoritative, and citable version of the article as published on the IJRVET website. Submitted manuscripts, preprints, Author Accepted Manuscripts, proofs, and other non-final versions may not be deposited, archived, shared, cited, or presented as IJRVET publications. Authors retain copyright, and all IJRVET articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

1. Purpose

The International Journal for Research in Vocational Education and Training (IJRVET) is committed to Open Access, scholarly accuracy, transparent version control, and the long-term accessibility of the scholarly record.

To prevent the circulation of incomplete, non-final, or potentially erroneous manuscript versions, IJRVET permits the public deposit, archiving, and sharing of the published Version of Record only.

The Version of Record is the authoritative, citable, and publicly available version of an article as published on the IJRVET website.

2. Permitted Version for Public Deposit and Sharing

Authors may publicly deposit, archive, and share the published Version of Record immediately upon publication.

No embargo period applies.

The Version of Record is the published version of the article. It includes the final title, author information, abstract, keywords, article text, references, figures, tables, metadata, DOI, licensing information, copyediting, typesetting, pagination or article numbering, and any final editorial corrections made during the publication process.

The Version of Record is the only version authorised by IJRVET for public deposit, repository archiving, public sharing, citation, teaching, indexing, and scholarly reuse as the IJRVET publication.

3. Versions Not Permitted for Public Deposit as IJRVET Publications

To ensure scholarly accuracy and to avoid confusion between preliminary and final versions, IJRVET does not permit the public deposit, public archiving, public sharing, or citation of the following versions as IJRVET publications:

  • submitted manuscripts;
  • preprints submitted to IJRVET;
  • revised manuscripts under review;
  • Author Accepted Manuscripts;
  • copyedited but unpublished manuscripts;
  • proof versions;
  • typeset proofs;
  • any other version that is not the final published Version of Record.

These versions must not be deposited, archived, disseminated, cited, or presented as IJRVET publications.

4. Author Accepted Manuscripts

An Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) is the version of a manuscript that has been accepted for publication after peer review but has not yet undergone final copyediting, typesetting, proofreading, pagination, metadata assignment, publication formatting, or final editorial correction by IJRVET.

Because Author Accepted Manuscripts may differ from the final published article, they must not be publicly deposited, publicly archived, publicly shared, cited, or presented as IJRVET publications.

Authors, institutions, and funders should use the published Version of Record for public deposit and Open Access compliance.

5. Timing of Deposit

Authors may deposit and share the Version of Record immediately after publication on the IJRVET website.

No embargo applies.

Before publication of the Version of Record, no manuscript version may be deposited, archived, shared, cited, or presented publicly as an IJRVET publication.

7. Mandatory Citation and Linking Requirements

All deposited copies of the Version of Record must include complete and accurate bibliographic information.

Deposited copies must include:

  • the citation of the published article;
  • the article DOI;
  • the journal title;
  • the applicable license statement.

Recommended statement:

This is the Version of Record of an article published in the International Journal for Research in Vocational Education and Training (IJRVET). The article is available at: [DOI link].

8. Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain copyright in their work.

By publishing in IJRVET, authors grant IJRVET the right of first publication and non-exclusive rights to publish, distribute, preserve, identify, and make available the Version of Record.

Authors do not transfer copyright to IJRVET.

Authors do not grant IJRVET exclusive publishing rights.

9. License

Articles published in IJRVET are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under CC BY 4.0, the published Version of Record may be shared and reused, provided that appropriate credit is given, the source is cited, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated. CC BY 4.0 permits sharing and adaptation, including for commercial purposes, subject to the license terms.

IJRVET does not impose additional restrictions on the published Version of Record that contradict or limit the terms of CC BY 4.0.

Adapted or modified versions of the Version of Record must be clearly identified as adaptations and must not be presented as the original Version of Record.

10. Version Control and Scholarly Accuracy

IJRVET regards the Version of Record as the only authoritative and citable version of an article.

This policy is designed to:

  • prevent the circulation of incomplete, non-final, or erroneous versions;
  • avoid confusion between submitted manuscripts, accepted manuscripts, proofs, and final published articles;
  • ensure that readers cite the correct version;
  • ensure that repositories and indexing services refer to the final published article;
  • protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

If a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other post-publication notice is issued, authors should update deposited records accordingly and link to the relevant notice on the IJRVET website.

11. Previously Shared Preprints or Manuscript Versions

If authors have shared a preprint or another manuscript version before submission to IJRVET, that version must not be presented as an IJRVET publication.

After publication of the Version of Record, authors should update any existing preprint or manuscript record with:

  • a clear statement that the deposited version is not the Version of Record;
  • the citation of the published IJRVET article;
  • the article DOI.

Where technically possible, authors are strongly encouraged to replace any earlier manuscript version with the Version of Record or to add the Version of Record alongside the earlier version.

Recommended statement for previously shared preprints or manuscript versions:

This manuscript version is not the Version of Record and must not be cited as the published article. The final, authoritative, and citable Version of Record has been published in the International Journal for Research in Vocational Education and Training (IJRVET) and is available at: [DOI link].

12. Funder and Institutional Open Access Compliance

Authors subject to institutional, national, or funder Open Access requirements should deposit the published Version of Record immediately upon publication in the repository required by their institution or funder.

The Version of Record is published Open Access under CC BY 4.0 and may be deposited without embargo.

If an institution or funder requires repository action before publication of the Version of Record, authors should deposit metadata only where possible and update the repository record with the Version of Record, DOI and citation immediately after publication.

A non-public or administrative deposit of an Author Accepted Manuscript does not replace the requirement to deposit the Version of Record after publication and does not constitute public Open Access dissemination under this policy.

For Horizon Europe, for example, peer-reviewed publications must be made Open Access by depositing the final published version or the peer-reviewed manuscript in a trusted repository; IJRVET’s preferred and authorised route is deposit of the final published Version of Record.

13. Metadata for Deposited Versions

When depositing the Version of Record, authors should provide accurate metadata.

Repository metadata should include, where available:

  • author name(s);
  • article title;
  • journal title;
  • year of publication;
  • volume;
  • issue;
  • page range or article number;
  • DOI;
  • license information;
  • link to the Version of Record on the IJRVET website.

The version type should be identified as:

Version of Record

The license should be identified as:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)

14. Third-Party Material

Where an article contains third-party material that is not covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 license, such material must be clearly identified in the article.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that any reuse or deposit of third-party material complies with applicable rights, permissions, attribution requirements, and license notices.

15. Relationship to Open Access

This policy supports Open Access dissemination by permitting immediate public deposit and sharing of the published Version of Record without embargo.

IJRVET articles are freely available on the journal website immediately upon publication and are distributed under CC BY 4.0.
