Author Biography

  • Markus Eldegard Mindrebø, University of Stavanger

    Markus Eldegard Mindrebø is Associate Professor of History at the University of Stavanger, Norway, where he has worked since 2023. His primary expertise lies in researching and teaching medieval history, and he has worked extensively on Medieval Scandinavia and the Old Norse sagas. Building from a keen interest in video games and modern medievalism, he has simultaneously worked for many years on the representation of history, and the Middle Ages specifically, in video games and contemporary popular culture. He has previously published on the medieval connections of everything from grand strategy games to fantasy role-playing games, and is a member of several research groups involving video games and the medieval.
